Last year I had the pleasure of prop styling & producing a photo shoot for Better Homes & Gardens sister magazine, Christmas Ideas, which is on newsstands now. Below is one of the easy holiday decorating crafts I created utilizing handsome green glass apothecary jars, Epsom salts, gold painted figures and wire brush Christmas trees to make easy DIY Snow Globes.
To make these you will need:
* Epsom Salt
* Green Glass Jars (mine came from Market Imports in Raleigh)
* Wire Brush Trees (picked these up from the Dollar Store)
* Miniature Deer Figurines
* Gold Spray Paint
Spray paint the figurines gold, they will remain a little tacky to the touch. Then simply pour in the epsom salt to your desired height and add in the trees. Super simple, but very cute. See another holiday DIY tutorial that I created here, this time decorating a mantle.

I’ve seen a few tutorials for similar jars floating around and have even seen them at Anthropologie! I love that you spray painted the figurines gold. Such a simple extra step but really “glams it up”!
Do you secure the figurines/trees to the bottom of the jar someway?
Nope, they sit happily within the espom salt.
Hi,
Do you add water or not ?
thanx a lot
Carole
Nope, no water. :)
Thanks for sharing this idea.
