Rock & Shop Market Fashion Photo Shoot

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Yesterday I had the opportunity to be a part of a spontaneous fashion shoot for the Rock & Shop Vintage Market with the photography provided by my talented friends Aaron & Rosie. They are amazing photographers and post-production artists and I can’t wait to see the pictures they’ve produced. Thanks so much you guys! Below are some behind-the-scenes recaps that I was able to capture amongst the stylish chaos. You can see more of my pictures of the day at my flickr page.

Rosie took head shots of the models while Aaron took fashion photos.

I was somehow able to convince my new friends Ellie & Brendan to join us and I am so glad they came. Ellie looked stunning in the outfits she modeled (including the Revamp dress & jewelry from Good Girls Studio above) and Brendan provided comic relief and much needed delivery runs. Both of them (and my Rock & Shop Market collaborator Regan) helped to ground me in an otherwise whirlwind day. You can see more behind-the-scenes images documenting the shoot on their blogs, mint & okay great.

The shoot would not have functioned if our very own Miss J wasn’t there. Not only did Jasmine find and manage the models, she convinced the Paul Mitchell Hair Academy’s fleet of students in training to come eleventh hour and function as our hair and makeup team.

It’s going to take me the weekend to recover from the past two days and get ready for next weekend when we debut our first ever Rock & Shop Vintage Market. What a fun experience! Hope to see you next Saturday at the Cotton Room at Golden Belt in Durham (on the third floor in Building 2) from 1-5pm for the event. All these designs will be on the catwalk at our fashion show and for sale during the event, plus we have over 50 designers selling repurposed fashions and vintage goods!

Updating Empty Storefront Windows

My friend Regan and I are creating indieNC displays and curating artist installations in empty storefronts here in North Carolina. Here is our first window at 230 Fayetteville Street in Raleigh. What a fun project! I grew up in a small town in Virginia where I walked to work and lived in the downtown, and loved that. I would dream of ways to revitalize the downtown that was filled with mostly antique stores and lawyers offices. I had festivals, shops and restaurants fully planned out in my mind (still do). I miss the close-knit community and Sunday night Bluemont Concert Series every summer, and am proud to be bringing a small part of my community-mindedness to Raleigh.

Participating designers in this month’s window: Captive Collective, Dana LeBlanc, Element Clay Studios, iro handbags, Modern Radar, Revamp, Sew Bliss Sew, ShopLuella,  and sara p. All products will be available for purchase in the indieNC shop.
