If you are not local and you get the chance to travel to Raleigh, North Carolina in the Spring, one of my favorite things to do is to wander the North Carolina Museum of Art, especially when the museum holds their annual fundraiser event ‘Art in Bloom’.
During this event, the museum, which is located a few miles outside of downtown, pairs works of art in their collection with local floral designers and asks them to create interpretations of the art through flowers.
The result is stunning and inspiring with large arrangements showcased both on the museum’s already beautiful park grounds and inside the museum itself.
In addition, the museum curates discussions and classes revolving around flowers as well. All proceeds from the event go to support the museum. Here are some of the pictures I took from the event a few weeks ago.
Next year’s event is already scheduled for March 30-April 2, 2017 so mark your calendars. I’d love to be involved in some fashion next year either through photography, arranging or teaching.
Which of these arrangements is your favorite?
