Recycled Plastic Bag Flowers, DIY Tutorial

If you are anything like me then you have a lot of plastic bags from the grocery store stashed somewhere. We all know by now that plastic bags just accumulate in the landfill and don’t break down for many, many years. I created these simple flowers out of bags that I had sitting in the pantry.

These can be used in a vase, bunched together to make a wreath or even as adornment for the top of a present, and they only take about fifteen minutes to make a bunch.

Materials
Plastic Grocery Bag
Pipe Cleaners
Scissors

Directions

  1. Fold the long side of the plastic bag in half. Then continue to fold onto itself until you have a strip about a half inch wide.
  2. Next, fold the strip in half.
  3. Then fold in half again.
  4. Wrap the top 1/4 of the pipe cleaner around the middle of the plastic bags.
  5. Fluff out plastic until it resembles a flower.  * You might need to cut some of the edges to give it a symmetrical shape.
