This week I am working on pulling together props and ideas for an engagement phoot shoot that I am styling for a couple who lives in Charlottesville, Virginia. The couples wedding colors are coral, taupe and black and they’ve mentioned that they love silhouettes, crosswords, wine, black vintage typewriters, and reading. I’ve been trolling through antique and thrift stores in search of the perfect elements to bring along. I was lucky to find a beautiful Smith-Corona black vintage typewriter, stacks of vintage books in coral and taupe, a black and white silhouettte plate and more. I’ll bring these props along with some custom design elements that I’ll make for the shoot.
We are going to shoot at the beautiful ruins and vineyard of Barboursville, a few miles outside of Charlottesville, a place Ben and I were lucky enough to visit on our own last year. I’m happy to be going back for such a fun occassion.
Confession: my initial business foray was going to be a business called Blissfully Wedded and my plan was to create custom wedding invitations, designs & favors but my business veered into other fulfilling directions. I vividly remember the Oprah show I saw in high school that showed a couple of girls who had gone into business for themselves doing just that and I thought “this is what I want to do”. I’ve collected and savored wedding, decorating and party hosting books (yes, I do have a book dedicated to the art of napkin folding) for years. Long winded point being, I am thrilled to see my business heading back into this direction organically and that I’m now offering custom wedding designs and styling. If you are a couple who wants a styled engagement photo shoot or custom design elements for your wedding (invitations, table cards, favors, etc.), please get in touch. I’ll share the pieces I’ve created for this shoot next week.
