While not a huge fan of purple in general, there is one shade of aubergine that I really do love. And though I probably wouldn’t paint a room in the interior of our house this color (although I do use it as an accent and on the wall of another closet desk area we created), I figured why not take a bigger risk in the garage/my studio space. Inspired by this room styled by Emily Henderson I’ve decided to use a deep eggplant color, accented by raw woods, white, navy, shimmery metallics, leather and charcoal. Emily’s new show, Secrets from a Stylist, is awesome by the way, a kindred spirit, for sure, and bonus – you can watch it online, if like me, you don’t have cable. I especially love the way she added white wainscoting to tame down the color even more.
Having a design focus makes it a lot easier to spot things when at a thrift store, fabric store, etc. that have two important criteria: that they fit this look and that I actually love the piece too.
I’d also like to have one accent wall with wallpaper. Perhaps painted wallpaper, like shown in this picture.
