I love whipping up homemade face masks from the garden, and though it has been a while, I have fond memories of lining all my girlfriends (ahem, Allison, Caitlin and Lisa!) up on the floor and slathering their faces with strawberry and egg yolk concoctions and pureeing mud masks out of 100% clay kitty litter. Yes, you read that right and you should try it too. It is so much cheaper than anything else you could buy marketed as a face mask and so good for your skin.
So it should come as no surprise that I choose skin care products that contain a minimum of ingredients and are low in risky chemicals. Below are the products that I’ve stuck with over the years (I have yet to find hair products that I am happy with), you?
- Yes to Tomatoes Face Wash – Paraban free
- Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap in Almond – 100% vegetable oil, this is the only soap you need, plus the almond smell is divine.
- Tom’s of Maine Long Lasting Deodorant – I’ve tried a lot and this is the only one that really works!
- Alba Sunscreen, SPF 30
- Nicole by Opi nail polish – free of DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde
- Badger Balm
Thanks for posting this – it reminded me to pick up Tom’s at the store today! I’m currently using Avalon Organic’s Vitamin C face wash once or twice per day and I’m enjoying that. The big “must-have” for me on the label is “no animal testing”! I think I currently am using Avalon Organics shampoo and conditioner, but like you, have yet to found hair products I’m really satisfied with.
Shampoo is tricky, and I don’t know about you but I have extremely thick, curly hair, so finding the right product regardless of origin is hard. :)
